The Student Experience & Engagement Coordinator, is primarily responsible for developing, implementing, and assessing International Student Orientation and other programmatic needs, which primarily serve F1/J1 students and J1 Scholars. The Coordinator will lead orientation and other programmatic needs to achieve the strategic plan and goals for the International Student and Scholar Services Office. The Coordinator will work collaboratively with ISSS staff, Admissions, Union administration, Student Housing, Utah Global, Utah Asia Campus, ASUU, and other university partners in relation to orientation. This position will also lead social media outreach in coordination with ISSS outreach and marketing teams. In addition to program and event planning, this position will have a strong focus, and time involved, in database processing and maintaining the US government's SEVIS database of international student and scholar records for compliance purposes.
Responsibilities • Plan & execute all aspects of in-person orientation and lead weekly orientation meetings and assign tasks and responsibilities as needed.• Schedule upcoming dates and times for summer, fall, and spring orientation in coordination with the Associate Director for Student Experience & Engagement.• Recruit, supervise, mentor, and train students in the Ambassador Program to perform their roles and responsibilities for orientation and other student engagement needs.• Serve as staff advisor and mentor for the student group within ASUU, International Student Association. Including assisting with filling student officer positions, mentoring, and attending other ISA events throughout the semester.• Lead the planning and coordination of the annual International Night event held during International Education Week (IEW), and serve as a member of the IEW Committee.• Manage location, room reservations and vendors for orientation, and other programmatic needs within ISSS.• Maintain ISSS website, UMarket and Homebase for orientation and programming.• Manage and send orientation communications to new students via Sunapsis, and oversee orientation modules in coordination with the Sunapsis Database Administrator and orientation team.• Manage orientation and event expenses, including purchasing and billing, to ensure alignment with program goals and event planning in coordination with the ISSS Director, Associate Director for Student Experience & Engagement and Administration Manager.• Coordinate orientation and tracking with Utah Global and UAC, including leading a welcome for students transitioning to ISSS.• Responsible for social media content and marketing office-wide on social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, and any future platforms.• Perform any other programmatic need for international students and scholars, which may include on and off campus activities, which may require time spent outside of normal office hours. Includes both indoor and outdoor activities, and/or cultural events.• Plan and execute events, including on- and off-campus events that may occur outside regular office hours• May serve as a Designated School Official (DSO).• Cross train as needed in other positions, and other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or equivalency) in a related field plus one year directly related experience or equivalency. Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content. Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines. Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills are also required.
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience. (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience.)
